Lonza Invests In New Plant

Lonza, Fair Lawn, NJ, has begun construction of a new plant for the production of niacinamide feed grade quality at its site in Guangzhou, China. In order to cope with the increasing demand for niacinamide, Lonza decided to build the plant in addition to the present facility in order to further strengthen its worldwide position in the market for vitamin B3. The new facility will be based on the technology of the existing plant in Guangzhou, which runs with full utilization at a level of 5000 tons p.a. With an investment of $30 million, the new plant will have a capacity of 6000 tons p.a. with the possibility of expansion up to 9000 tons. Start-up of production is expected for March 2005.
